BETHANY, Oklahoma -

A prison escapee is back behind bars after an unexpected run-in with the law, and this wasn't just any run as this one made a real impact, and it's one he won't soon forget.

You could say this is a case of some hard hitting police work, or just a couple of criminals making another wrong turn, but either way, Bethany Police are proud they put an escapee behind bars.

"A lot of times we end up putting in a good hard day's work and we end up catching the criminals and then some days they just fall in our laps," Detective Nathan Myers said.

For Detective Nathan Myers, capturing an escapee literally happened by accident.

"I was driving down N.W. 36th and Rockwell headed through the intersection when I got hit by a Volvo," he said.

Myers explained two gang members, Floyd Cizeck and Oklahoma Department of Corrections escapee Cenobio Ochoa, ran a red light mashing into the unmarked police car.

"The guys had no idea who they hit until I jumped out and said, ‘hey come here we need to talk,'" Myers said.

Myers explained the men seemed shocked and the fugitive tried to get a way.

Ochoa first lied about his identity but police soon discovered he escaped from the Carver Correctional Center.

Officers searched the car only to find out the criminals had a gun and drugs at the scene of the crash.

"He just knew he was caught, he knew what was coming, so he just took his lumps," Myers said.

Detectives Myers walked away from the crash without a scratch. Ochoa and Cizek were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a long list of charges including possession of a firearm and drugs.
