As the map on the right shows, courtesy of the OK Mesonet, temperatures today have definitely been on the chilly side. We will have another cold night tonight followed by a warming trend that will persist through the coming weekend. In fact, our overnight lows by this coming weekend will be close to what our normal daytime highs are for this time of year. In other words, the month of Nov will be ending on a very mild note and the month of December will be getting off to a very mild start.

Unfortunately, not much in the way of rain is coming our way anytime soon. As southerly winds kick in over the next few days and start the warming trend, this will also open up the Gulf of Mexico and bring more low level moisture this way. This will result in increasing cloud cover with mostly cloudy skies expected for Fri through the weekend and into Monday. It will look like rain with all the clouds around, but nothing more than a few light showers are expected and the chances of that are less than 20%. Despite the low level moisture, there is just not much support aloft nor any surface features coming along until after the weekend.

We do see the next cool front arriving by early Tuesday of next week, but it presently does not look to be all that wet either. At least there will be a chance of a few lucky folks receiving some showers/storms with the front and cooler conditions will be settling in behind it for the middle of next week. Even so, look for temperatures to only be back to near normal so the very mild conditions that have been the general rule look to continue. In fact, we continue to be on track for another warmer than normal month for November, and the year as a whole is also closing in on the warmest year on record.

So, stay tuned and check back for updates.
