Tulsa Fire cadets are put through the ringer to learn how to save themselves.

All week, they're being put into "mayday" situations, like getting trapped, or running out of air.

Tuesday, they suited up and went through all kinds of scenarios, so when the time comes, they'll fight the natural urge to panic.

"We can see how they're going to react, and we can use this training so that when they get out in the company it'll become natural to them, and they won't think about they'll just do it. And they'll call the 'mayday' and that'll help save their lives," said Chief of Training, Stacy Belk.

Several firefighters were injured back in September, when they were caught in an explosion at Tulsa's old Barnard Elementary.
