McINTOSH COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Authorities arrested a McIntosh woman after they found her mother's dead body in a garage on her property.

Shelly Maytubby, 52, was arrested on complaints of caretaker abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, interfering with an investigation, and improper disposal of human remains.

In September, 79-year-old Erlene McCune was checked out of an assisted living facility in Lawrence, Kansas, to go and live with her daughter, Maytubby, in McIntosh County.

On November 16, other family members asked the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office to do a welfare check on McCune, saying they hadn't heard from her in several days.

When deputies questioned Maytubby about McCune's whereabouts, she said she had left with a truck driver and that she wanted to be with people her own age. She told them McCune wanted to be left alone.

Their suspicions raised, the deputies questioned Maytubby again and she stopped cooperating with them.

Deputies secured a search warrant and returned to Maytubby's property with assistance from Eufala and Checotah police officers.

When they arrived, Maytubby told them she could show them where McCune was. She said her mother had died and her body was in a garage on her property.

The local authorities called in the OSBI to assist in the search. They located McCune's body late Tuesday night.

Investigators sent the remains to the Medical Examiner's office to determine the manner in which she died. They also seized financial records of McCune's from the Maytubby residence.

Since authorities haven't determined how McCune died, Maytubby hasn't been arrested on a complaint anything related to her death, other than improper disposal of human remains.
