WASHINGTON COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A quiet hilltop getaway in Washington County, which closed about five years ago, is open once again.

After some time off, the owners of Jarrett Farm Resort are eager to offer a unique experience for groups, large or small, or just a romantic escape for two.

The Presidential suite is 1,100 square feet of very, very nice accommodations in the main building at Jarrett Farm.

"It's the only one in the main house," said Marvin Luke.

Originally, it was a 7,000 square foot private residence, when it was built in the early '80s, but it only had three bedrooms.

"It was a party house. It's a nice place to entertain," Luke said.

It was perfect for what Luke and Gary Dennis have used it for since they bought it in 1998.

Aside from the main house, there are five cottages--20 suites on the property, in all.

When Luke and Dennis bought Jarrett Farm they added the additional suites.

They moved the first people into those new cottages around Thanksgiving, 1998.

My wife and I stayed a night here about ten years ago and I remember from this hilltop you can see for miles.

"At night, you can really see all the light from over there," Luke said.

Business went well until the ice storm at the end of 2007. Then Jarrett Farm closed in early 2008, and was put up for sale. But it didn't sell.

So, a few months ago, they decided to open it up again.

"You buy a place like this for an investment, and all of a sudden you realize it's more than that," Luke said.

He said he realized Jarrett Farm had become part of people's lives and memories, and said they missed that part of it. But now there will be plenty of opportunity to make more memories.
