The shelter workers say Phoenix is a sweet, loving dog.

The shelter has received donations from all over the country, but they say Phoenix is likely be at the shelter for a long time, so more is needed.

Folks at the Muskogee Animal Shelter are turning to social media in hopes of getting Justice for Phoenix.
Once called simply "White Girl," Phoenix got her new name because of her rise from a terrible situation of abuse.
In the video above, photojournalist Todd Ruffin has more on the efforts to nurse her back to health and bring her abusers to justice.
