MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -

All 793 Muskogee Public School employees will be getting $200 bonuses in their December paychecks.

The Muskogee Board of Education approved the bonuses during its meeting Tuesday.

According to a news release from the school district, the bonuses reflect a mid-term adjustment due to student growth and will have no impact on district reserves of $1.8 million.

Superintendent Mike Garde credited the school board's diligent oversight of the budget for the district's being in a sound enough financial situation to provide the bonuses.

"During this time of great change, everyone on our staff is working very hard to make the necessary instructional shifts to Common Core Standards and assure all students are reaching their full potential. The board wanted to demonstrate to its employees that they appreciate their dedication and commitment to making this a quality district," said Superintendent Mike Garde.

Garde noted that the school district staff is currently one step behind due to funding cuts since 2008, according to the release.
