TULSA COUNTY, Oklahoma -
A fatal traffic crash on state Highway 97 between Sapulpa and Sand Springs closed the northbound lanes of the highway for nearly 2 hours Saturday morning.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked the crash at Highway 97 and 61st Street intersection.
Troopers stated in their report an eastbound car driven by 20-year-old Taylor Rooks of Sapulpa failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a northbound Ford SUV driven by Dennis Krawetzke, 62, of Sapulpa.
A passenger in his car, Carolyn Krawetzke, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the OHP report, troopers say neither person in the SUV was wearing a seat belt.
Dennis Krawetzke was taken to a Tulsa hospital for observation. Rooks was also taken to a Tulsa hospital, where she was treated and released.
