Oklahoma and Texas A&M are set to square off in the Cotton Bowl Jan. 4, but before that day arrives, the two teams squared off in the All-College Classic Saturday at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
The Sooners used a 15-3 run halfway through the second half to establish a lead they would not relinquish, cruising to a 64-54 win over the Aggies.
Oklahoma shot just 38.9 percent from the field for the game, but forced 19 Texas A&M turnovers and went 18-for-19 from the free-throw line.
The Sooners trailed 17-11 with 11:34 remaining in the first half, but went on a 9-2 run, spurred by freshman Buddy Hield to take a 20-19 lead with 6:27 remaining in the half. Hield finished with 12 points, 10 of those in the first half.
The Sooners were led by Romero Osby's 19 points and seven rebounds. The senior also went a perfect 9-for-9 at the charity stripe. Cameron Clark chipped in 17 points off the bench for the Sooners. Steven Pledger was the only other OU player in double-figures with 10 points.
Elston Turner led the Aggies with 17 points while Ray Turner had 12.
The Sooners are in action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they take on Stephen F. Austin at Lloyd Noble Center.
