Quapaw Woman Found Guilty Of Killing Boyfriend's 17-Month-Old Son

A 20-year-old Green Country woman was convicted of killing her then boyfriend's son.

Joplin CBS-affiliate KOAM said it only took a couple of hours for an Ottawa County jury to find Skye Reece guilty of murder Thursday.

Reece claimed 17-month-old Lanceton Hollenbeck died after falling off a bed.

But the boy's family never believed her story.

"It's almost like she thinks we're ignorant, or we're idiots. To me, it's like being called an idiot," said Reece's aunt Kara Nowlin.

Prosecutors said the boy's injuries were too severe to have only fallen off a bed.

A judge will sentence Reece next month. She faces up to 20 years in prison.
