Friends on Friday marked the memory of a woman gunned down inside her parents' Jenks home.

Mary Escue was murdered in what police call a robbery gone bad. Jenks Police say Josh Mooney, 14, broke into an empty home Monday night and shot Mary Escue in the head with a gun he found in the house.

Escue's high school friends gathered at Jenks Riverwalk for a candlelight vigil in honor of their dear friend. In high school, the group called themselves SSR, which stands for Southside Rowdy.

"She was a girl that like to have a good time," Donna Reeder said. "She would approve of this tonight."

Escue graduated from Jenks High School in 1983. Her classmates said its hard losing their friend, but it helps to grieve together.

"She had the most awesome laugh," Dana Eddy said.

Escue was known as one of the pretty girls in high school. Her friends described her as full of life and said she loved to have fun.

"Even though she's up in the sky, she's still our guardian angel," John Ensing said.

Jenks Police have now linked the young suspect to another Jenks break-in. Detectives said this may have been a pattern for Mooney. They believe he broke into his next door neighbor's house a day or two before the shooting and stole a shotgun there. Officers say Mooney passed that shotgun onto a friend, who turned it into police.

Mooney is being held for first-degree murder.
