Tulsa Police Release Sexual Assault Suspect Sketches

Tulsa Police are hoping someone can identify two men who sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman in the early in the 6100 block of East Pine.

The victim gave police very detailed descriptions and helped them create composite sketches.

It's quite unusual to have a stranger rape in Tulsa, and it's even rarer to have an attack involving two suspects. But police say that's what happened around 3 a.m. last Friday, December 21.

Detectives released the information to officers immediately, but wanted to get the sketches finished before releasing it to the public.

The woman said she was walking near Pine and Sheridan to meet someone, when the two men spotted her and began to holler and make cat calls.

She ignored them, even changed directions, but they caught up to her.

"The first suspect, the black male reaches her and grabs her and throws her down in a ditch. She had a necklace on and he began strangling her with it to the point she lost consciousness," said Sergeant Mark Mears.

When she came to, she said the black man was sexually assaulting her and the white suspect was standing nearby, saying he was going to be next.

She said that's when a Good Samaritan drove up.

"A passerby in a vehicle stopped, saw something was going on and shouted for the suspects to stop," Mears said.

The suspects took off running south along a nearby fence line and the victim went home and called police. They say her injuries are consistent with how she described the attack.

Officers believe the men hang out in the area and will be recognizable. Both are in their 20s, both around 5-feet-10 and thin. The black suspect wore his hair in short dreadlocks and had a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a large metal belt buckle.

The white suspect's hair was short, blonde and straight.

"We think this particular incident was a crime of opportunity," Mears said. "Both suspects smelled of marijuana strongly. They saw her, were pretty messed up and it was a target of opportunity."

Police say they appreciate the Good Samaritan who interrupted the crime and would love to talk to him.
