CANADIAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -
A man was arrested, late Wednesday
night, for solicitation of a minor in what was an undercover sting operation regarding
the sexual exploitation of minor children online, conducted by the Canadian
County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation began when the
undercover ad, featuring a Caucasian female appearing to be in her teenage
years, was answered by the suspect, Daniel Cox. According to investigators, Cox
sent an email to investigators stating "I need to meet some girls out there I
am 27 I have if you want a pic let me know."
Investigators responded to the
email with "kewl, I am 15 but mature for my age. Like to see your pic." Investigators
then received an emailed image of Cox, fully clothed.
The email correspondence between
Cox and investigators began at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and
continued for about 10 minutes, where they resumed via cellular telephones.
According to the investigation, Cox
then sent a text message to an investigator portraying a 15-year-old female, asking
for a nude photograph. Cox then sent a message stating that he liked to give "oral"
and continued to message the investigator in a highly descriptive manner.
Cox then messaged that he would
like to meet the girl. Investigators responded, suggesting the two should meet
at the library at 500 W. Main St. in Yukon, Okla. Cox responded saying he could
not meet up until 10 p.m. because he was watching the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball
game.
Cox messaged the supposed 15 year
old to send a photograph of herself posing with a peace sign, to prove that he
wasn't being set up. Investigators quickly found a Google image of a teenage
girl making the sign, and blurred the face so the female could not be
recognized. Cox replied saying he was happy with the image and still wanted to
meet.
Investigators say Cox then started
texting very graphic questions about the supposed female's private parts. He
also messaged that he wasn't interested in a "one-nighter" and wanted to have a
continuous relationship. Cox then asked for more nude photographs from
investigators, made inquiries about her bra and panty size, and then said he was
waiting at the library.
At around 9:45 p.m., Lt. Adam
Flowers, who conducted the investigation, along with Canadian County Sheriff
Randal Edwards, Sgt. Doug Gerten and Deputy Shawna Cornish pulled behind a
four-door Nissan vehicle driven by Cox.
Cox was placed under arrest and
transported to the Canadian County Jail. His phone was taken into evidence and
his vehicle was impounded. While taking an inventory of the vehicle,
investigators found a loaded Kimber .45 handgun in the car's center console.
Cox is facing charges of facilitating,
encouraging, offering or soliciting sexual conduct with a minor by use of
technology and use of a firearm while committing or attempting to commit a
felony. Details of a possible bond were not immediately available.
