TULSA, Oklahoma -

A Tulsa church is getting some much needed extra security features. all for free.

It comes after a shocking number of burglaries where thieves have taken just about everything they can get their hands on—even paper plates and toilet paper.

Crews with a Tulsa company called Security by Black installed a few things to make Lakeview Heights Baptist Church more burglar-proof.

Owner Scott Davis said he couldn't believe thieves have hit the church on North Delaware so often.

"To think that they'll target churches, it's just ludicrous," Davis said.

The company is donating the equipment and labor.

Pastor Darold Bruton said it's a blessing.

"It helps us keep our hope alive," Bruton said.

The church has been broken into not once or twice—not even just a handful of times.

Bruton said they were robbed 29 times in 2012, and at least 25 times in 2011.

Thieves have taken just about everything they can get their hands on, regardless of value.

Bruton said they stole a TV, two VCRs, five microwaves, a wheelchair, heaters, pots and pans, and even toilet paper and paper plates.

They've even had their air conditioning unit stolen three different times over the past few years.

About the only thing they haven't taken are the hymn books.

The losses have added up to tens of thousands of dollars for a very small church.

Thanks to Security by Black, the church now has more safeguards, including motion sensors and door alarms.

"We can definitely make it less appealing for them to come back and make it harder on them," said Davis.

"It's just a sign of the time, the respect for themselves or the respect for something that is holy," Bruton said.

But the church pastor said now he can see a lot of good happening.

Instead of spending money to fix damage and replace items, they can invest in their building and the ministry.
