Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy has announced the hiring of Joe Bob Clements as the Cowboy defensive line coach.

Clements just completed his 11th season at his alma mater, Kansas State. He most recently coached defensive ends and served as the run game coordinator for the Wildcats. Clements has been a part of Kansas State's staffs during both of Bill Snyder's tenures as the Wildcat head coach, and he served as Kansas State's recruiting coordinator in 2004 and 2005. He also had coaching stops at Kansas (2008) and San Diego State (2006 and 2007). He coached four All-Big 12 defensive linemen at Kansas and Kansas State.

"Joe Bob Clements has a reputation as a disciplined and hard-nosed coach," Gundy said. "He has good people skills and is a strong coach on the field and has a great reputation as a recruiter."

Clements is a native of Emporia, Kan., and played football at Kansas State. He began his playing career as a walkon for the Wildcats before earning a scholarship prior to the 1996 season. He became a four-year letterwinner as a player under Snyder. He earned a degree at K-State in mass communications in 1999. In 2009, he completed a master's degree in counseling and student development.

Clements and his wife, Pelusa, have four children: Orianna, Chance, Emma and Kaden.
