Milder Next Few Days.

Posted: Updated:

Off to the new building for another rehearsal this afternoon. Fortunately for the move and all the rehearsals and everything else that is going on, our weather has remained in a rather quiet pattern recently. Cannot say the same for locations further south as the image on the right shows. An inch or two of snow fell over portions of extreme NE Texas early this morning. Considering the snow that fell on Christmas Day which was also well south of us, am starting to wonder if those areas will end up with more snow this winter than we will. However, there is still a lot of winter ahead of us so not going to climb out on that limb just yet.

After several very cold days, temperatures will finally moderate for the rest of the week. Northerly winds and the lingering cloud cover has kept us pretty much in the 30s again this afternoon and it will be another cold night tonight with morning lows back to near 20. After that, we should see more sunshine Wed afternoon and with a more W to SW surface wind, that should push our daytime highs at least into the mid 40s.

Despite a N to NW wind on Thursday, we should also be well into the 40s for an afternoon high. Friday and Saturday will have southerly winds, lots of sunshine, and daytime highs that are expected to reach well into the 50s. Not for long though as another cold front will be arriving late Saturday followed by a stronger surge of colder air for Monday and Tuesday. Look for Sunday to be back in the 40s during the day and early next week will likely see daytime highs only in the 30s.

Still not much in the way of precipitation with any of these systems though. There is a weak qpf signal from the European model on Monday as the colder air surges southward, so some flurries are not out of the question at that time. But, even if that occurs, the amounts would be very light and there is still no drought breaker in sight. In fact, not even a drought denter the way things are going right now.

So, stay tuned and check back for updates.
