Authorities Arrest Suspect In Hughes County Homicide

One person has been arrested following a shooting in Hughes County, Oklahoma, that left one man dead early Sunday morning, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

One person has been arrested following a shooting in Hughes County, Oklahoma, that left one man dead early Sunday morning, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Just after 6 a.m. Sunday, deputies with the Hughes County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a shooting at a house in the 4600 block of Shady Lane in the Hickory Hills area near Calvin.

When deputies and emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found 21-year-old Michael Eric Morris dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside the house.

Joe Henry Harden, 22, was arrested at the scene of the shooting. Deputies say the victim, suspect and several others were at the home for a social gathering at the time of the shooting.

OSBI agents are also processing the crime scene, and interviewing those in the area at the time of the shooting and any others who may have information helpful in the investigation.

Harden was booked into the Hughes County jail on a complaint of first degree murder.
