OWASSO, Oklahoma -

An Owasso couple is giving back to the community. Lynn and Barbara Owens gave the city of Owasso a check Wednesday for nearly $31,000.

The Owasso Police Department will use the money to buy 30 Colt M-4 rifles with flashlight mounts and flashlights.

The Owenses say they want to help keep their community safe and believe in giving where they live.

"Anytime you give something, you always get something in return. So if you give things like this, you always get the feeling you know, you feel good about it, and you hope that it does good for whoever you give it to," said Lynn Owens.

"Any tool that we can give an officer to stop a danger that might be threatening them or others in the community is gonna be valued," said Owasso Police Chief Scott Chambless.

Chambless says the money is enough to buy every officer, including school resource officers a rifle for their squad car.
