TULSA, Oklahoma -
Not even 24 hours after Oklahoma Highway Patrol's bomb squad was called to investigate luggage left at a turnpike toll booth, Tulsa got another bomb scare.
This time it all started because of a prank.
Three people were arrested for making a simulated bomb and handing it out to people.
It all happened around 5 p.m. Monday, near 6th and Boston. What started as a prank quickly turned into a bomb scare.
Tulsa Police say Daniel Nix, 22, Nathan Howe, 21, and Logan Sours, 23, ran up to people in downtown Tulsa with a bag, letting them believe it was a bomb.
It was actually a simulated bomb, made of pipes and wires, but the victims had no idea at the time.
"She also took off running in fear of her life, not knowing what could be in that bag," said Officer Leland Ashley.
From Nix's Facebook page, it appears he may have been the ringleader of the hoax. In a post, he asked for prank video ideas.
One woman suggested "having someone hold a bag for you then run like heck."
And that's exactly what police say he and his friends did.
"They would approach unsuspecting individuals and just take off running, not saying anything, just take off running," Ashley said.
Officer Ashley said it's clear the suspects were looking for fame, but all they got was trouble.
And some of Nix's Facebook friends agree, calling him "mega famous" now.
"With social media now, we see people do things that they probably wouldn't have done in years past, but everybody wants that 15 minutes of fame," Ashley said.
We tried to reach out to Nix. We called his cell phone, but it went straight to voicemail, so we went to his house and knocked on the door, but no one answered.
Nix did, however, take to Facebook to express his frustration, calling the media full of lies.
He says the prank was staged, but one went bad and they weren't able to find the victim in time to say it was a joke.
Nix's Facebook page also includes information about previous pranks he
has filmed and posted on YouTube under the production name "Blackoutbros."
"You always have to think about what you do, the ramifications of what you do, and as you see, we've got three individuals arrested for this prank," Ashley said.
The road to stardom for the three men came to a halt once they were slapped with felony complaints of manufacturing a simulated bomb.
Police are still searching for one more person, who they believe was involved in this prank.
Police are also asking any other victims of the prank to call the Tulsa Police Department at 918-596-9222.
