Sand Springs Relay for Life volunteers organized a big meal and invited the community out.
SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -
Volunteers in Sand Springs kicked off this year's Relay for Life Saturday.
They organized a big meal and invited the community out. They were getting teams registered for the upcoming relay in June at River City Park.
The group is hoping to raise $32,000 this year. Hitting that goal is extra special for one of the volunteers.
"This year, I get to say I'm 8 years old, because I'm an eight-year survivor, and every extra birthday gives us a chance to provide hope for others," said Rie Hamby.
