ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Two Broken Arrow men were ordered to pay $85,000 in restitution after killing eight head of cattle with a bow and arrow in Rogers County.

Traton Tyler Vanderpool, 20, and Jared Wade Barlass, 21, were convicted in February of 2012 on eight counts of animal cruelty each. They were released Friday from the Oklahoma Department of Correction's RID program, a bootcamp program within the prison system.

Both men will serve four years probation, according to the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

One of the victims was a young 4-H member who lost her show calf, according to TSCRA Special Ranger John Cummings.

"The amount of restitution ordered sends a clear message to would be criminals that stealing or killing livestock in Oklahoma will not be tolerated," Cummings said.
