With an average of 10,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 each day, the Oklahoma State Department of Health is focusing on helping seniors manage chronic health conditions. Chronic conditions include things like diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, chronic pain, depression and anxiety.

A free six-week workshop called "Living Longer, Living Stronger" begins this Saturday at the Claremore Will Rogers Library, 1515 North Florence Avenue.

The course was developed by Stanford University and teaches participants to build skills and strategies for better managing chronic health issues to live healthier, more comfortable lives, according to Cara Carroll with the Rogers County Literacy Council.

"Workshop topics include goal setting, exercise, nutrition, relaxation techniques and more," Carroll said.

"It's for everyday people who struggle with their chronic illnesses, and for those who support family members or loved ones with chronic conditions."

The workshop series will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays, February 16 to March 23. Space is limited.

To register, call 918-277-4331.
