The Texas A&M International University Dustdevils got the best of the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies over the weekend, sweeping the three-game series and claiming a 6-0 start to their season.

TAMIU 3, OPSU 2—Clear skies and 80 degrees greeted the Aggies in Laredo, but did little to help them get a win. In game one on Friday, TAMI scored two runs in the second. OPSU tied the score with two runs in the fifth as Nick Crosswhite singled down the left field line to get runners Jordan Bernal and Alfonso Gonzalez safely home. The Dustdevils got the winning run in the seventh and final inning off relieving pitcher Matt Klaczkiewicz. Bernal had three hits for four at-bats. Starting pitcher Corey Mingin gave up five hits and two runs and struck out one. Klaczkiewicz was given the loss.

TAMIU 7, OPSU 2—In the second game of the doubleheader, the Aggies got on the board first in the second inning with a lead-off homer from Gregory Siquieros. Home remained untouched until the fifth when TAMI scored four runs off OPSU pitcher Andy Scott, who ended up with the loss. The Aggies tried to come back in the sixth as Bernal advanced to third when Gonzalez hit a single and then scored when Nick Crosswhite hit a sacrifice fly, but that was the final run the Aggies scored. In the bottom of the sixth, Adam Burke relieved Scott on the mound and while he did not give up a hit in that inning, he gave up two in the seventh and the Dustdevils scored two more runs to increase their lead to 6-2. One more Dustdevil run in the eighth sealed the win. For the game, Gonzalez had four hits for four at-bats and Crosswhite and Siqueiros had an RBI each.

TAMIU 10, OPSU 5—The Dustdevils took advantage of Joshua Land's troubles on the mound in the first inning, scoring five runs. The Aggies repaid the favor in the top of the second, plating three runs by Crosswhite, Chris McClendon, and Bo Ybarra off no hits and two errors. TAMIU scored another run in the third and then two in the sixth to give them a 7-3 lead. In the eighth, Casey Kettler hit a sacrifice fly to bring Crosswhite home and a single from Ruben Aguirre got McClendon home. The Dustdevils plated two more runs in the eighth to seal the win. McClendon ended the game with two hits off three at-bats, two hits and two runs. Crosswhite went 2-2 and Kettler, Aguirre, and Ybarra had one RBI each. Land was the losing pitcher.

TAMIU currently possesses first place in the Heartland Conference with a perfect 6-0 overall and HC record. The Aggies are now 0-6 overall and 0-6 HC in the young season. The game with Oklahoma Christian scheduled for Feb. 14 had been postponed due to the possibility of inclement weather. The Aggies travel to Wichita, Kan. for a three-game series with Newman University Feb. 15-16.
