The husband of a woman stranded on Carnival Cruise Line's disabled ship, Triumph, relayed his wife's experience Thursday afternoon. She told him the ship was slowly making its way towards port in Mobile, Alabama but was not expecting to get in until close to midnight.

She has been on the ship for a week not with three friends. They were supposed to be having a girls' get-away but instead have been dealing with a disgusting situation on board since Sunday.

Thursday marked another setback for passengers on board Carnival's broken ship. A tow cable snapped and delayed the ship's arrival in Alabama. Families in Oklahoma say they can now send text messages back and forth with their stranded loved-ones, who said they were living in foul conditions. Martin Sharp's wife and three friends say human waste was actually seeping down the interior walls of the ship.

Martin Sharp said his wife and her group of friends on board the ship told him that conditions continued to go downhill but they were trying to keep up a positive attitude and hoped to get home to Oklahoma City by tomorrow night.

"Majority of the toilets aren't working, most of the rooms cannot be occupied because there's, the floors are soaked. The bottom floors, you know, the smell and stuff isn't, I mean, not too many people can tolerate it for very long so that's why they're on the upper decks."

Getting into port will undoubtedly be a relief for the 4,200+ passengers and crew members on board. During a Thursday press conference, Carnival's Senior Vice President Senior VP Terry Thornton said it would take hours for passengers to disembark from the ship because it only has one working elevator.

"Being on the ship, you're pretty much stuck, you can't get out and walk. So hopefully in several hours they'll at least be on land and can get on a bus and at least have a shower and a hot meal TONIGHT," said Sharp.

Sharp told News 9 that Carnival Cruise Lines would reimburse his wife for the cruise plus $500 for the inconvenience.
