Police say an Oklahoma man is dead after the 2007 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck he was driving, drifted across the median and crashed into a line of trees along Interstate 40 in western Arkansas.

A preliminary report from Arkansas State Police says 81-year-old C.H. Betterton of Grove was driving east Sunday morning on I-40 near Mulberry when he drifted across the median and into the tree line.

State police say Betterton struck several trees before his pickup truck came to a rest.

Troopers say Betterton was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
