Canadian County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Pennsylvania man Friday after finding more than two dozen pounds of high-quality marijuana in the trunk of his car.

On February 15, a deputy stopped 21-year-old Casey Sharp Ward near Banner Road in El Reno when Ward failed to signal during a lane change. When the deputy approached the car, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana.

The deputy called in a drug-sniffing canine. Investigators then discovered 28 pounds of pot, contained in one-pound packages and loaded into suitcases.

"It didn't take a whole lot of investigating once the deputies smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle," Canadian County Sheriff Randall Edwards said.

Ward was arrested and booked into the Canadian County jail on complaints of marijuana trafficking, conspiracy to commit a felony, and concealing drug proceeds.
