Another chance of wintry weather is in the forecast for Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to News On 6 meteorologist Dick Faurot.

Take advantage of the warmer day Sunday as the rest of the week will be much colder.

The bullseye for the next storm system appears to be Kansas, but there is a decent shot for moisture in Green Country.

"Rain showers will likely be developing by late Sunday night continuing into the day Monday," Faurot said in his weather blog.

"Then as the storm system shifts eastward, our winds will shift to the NW, colder air will spill back over us and there will a transition to snow by Monday night ending by early Tuesday morning."

It's too soon to call, but the more northern counties in Oklahoma could receive several inches of precipitation, Faurot said.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch in effect from Monday afternoon through late Monday night for Pawnee, Washington and Osage counties. The alert is in effect from Sunday evening until early Tuesday in Payne County.

Snow is expected mainly in areas northwest of Interstate 44, according to the alert. Strong winds developing Monday night could result in areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.

"The bottom line is with northerly winds expected all week long, look for temperatures to be much colder than would otherwise be the case," Faurot said. "We may also see a few flurries again along about the middle part of the week."
