St. Gregory's University men's basketball player Fayzon Richey has been named to the All-Sooner Athletic Conference Second Team. Richey, a senior from El Reno, is second in the conference and ninth in the NAIA with a 20.8 scoring average. This is the third time he has been named to the second team.
Richey became SGU's all-time leading scorer this season and has 2,208 points for his career. He also passed the 500-point mark this year – the third time in four seasons he has accomplished the feat. Richey leads the team in scoring, steals, blocks and rebounds this year.
He adds this honor to a list of athletic achievements that includes SAC Freshman of the Year, All-SAC honorable mention and two-time NAIA All-American honorable mention.
Three other Cavs were honored Monday. John Clark, Brock Vorwald and Ilya Chernov were named to the Academic All-SAC team for their efforts in the classroom.
