Mid-America Christian University senior guard Charlie Shorter can add his second National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week to his collection for the second time this season. Earlier Tuesday, he was also named the NCCAA Central-Regional Co-MVP.

Shorter is leading the Sooner Athletic Conference and is fifth in the NAIA and sixth in the NCCAA in scoring at 22.0 ppg. He is also getting it done on the defensive end, leading the SAC with two steals per game.

This season, he became just the fifth player in MACU history and the first since becoming an NAIA school to reach the 2,000 point plateau. He is sitting on 2,071 career points after a career-high 42 point effort against No. 3-ranked John Brown University and then 22 points in a victory at St. Gregory's University.

Yesterday (Feb. 25), Shorter was named the SAC Player of the Year and received his second straight SAC Player of the Week selection.

Shorter and the Evangels are gearing up for a showdown with Rogers State University in the quarterfinals of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday night (Feb. 28) at 9:45 p.m. on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla.
