Wednesday Morning Update

Posted: Updated:

I'll keep the morning discussion brief and to the point this morning!

After a very windy and cold day yesterday, we're in store for a chilly but pleasant Wednesday.  The big difference today will be the light wind.  Temperatures will be warmer for the rest of the week, but wind speeds will be increasing Thursday and Friday as south winds begin to increase low level moisture back across the area.

The next major system continues to be advertised by both the GFS and the EURO for this weekend.  And the data continues to differ slightly on the exact timing of the system with the EURO slower and the GFS faster.  As discussed yesterday in the blog, I'll keep the slower EURO in the money right now with storm chance beginning late Saturday and continuing into Sunday midday. The EURO would keep the upper low over NE OK through Monday morning and could produce a few sprinkles or flurries during the early Monday morning time period.  I will not include this probability at this juncture of the forecast process. Please remain aware that the timing with the weekend system could go through a few changes between now and Saturday.

There remains some uncertainty with the weekend system regarding the instability and exact storm parameters.  We'll not be able to adequately discuss these variables with any confidence for another two days or so, but we'll continue to keep you posted regarding any possibility of strong to near severe storm formation.  After all, we're getting closer to spring.

The high yesterday in Tulsa was 50 recorded at 4:20pm.

The normal daily average high is 59 and the low is 37.

The daily records include a high of 87 in 1974 and 1910.  The daily record low is 13 from 1943.
