A Washington County jury returned a ‘not guilty' verdict in the trial of a former Bartlesville Police officer charged with assault and battery.

A Washington County jury returned a ‘not guilty' verdict in the trial of a former Bartlesville Police officer charged in connection with an incident at a Bartlesville hospital in 2011.

Stacy Neafus was arrested after an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation into claims that he and another former police officer assaulted an emergency detention order patient in the hospital's emergency room.

The trial began Monday and included testimony from Neafus in his own defense.

Another former police officer charged in the case, Sonya Worthington was found guilty of assault and battery in an October 2012 jury trial.
