The Oklahoma Sooners used a combined four-hit shutout from four pitchers to defeat New Mexico State 8-0 Tuesday night in Norman.

Drew Krittenbrink, Ralph Garza Jr., Jake Fisher and Kindle Ladd combined to strike out 10 Aggie batters in the shutout. They issued nine walks, but sharp field by the Sooners prevented any threats from turning into runs.

Offensively for the Sooners, Matt Oberste continued his hot start to the season, going 3-for-3 from the plate with an RBI. Garrett Carey went 2-for-5 with three RBIs to pace the Sooners.

Oklahoma led just 2-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth, but a four-run inning gave the Sooners a 6-0 advantage, more than enough for the OU pitching staff to put the game away.

In the inning, the Sooners quickly put runners on second and third with no outs. A Craig Aikin sacrifice fly got the scoring started for OU. Max White hit an RBI single before Oberste was intentionally walked, setting the stage for Carey to bring them both home with a double to left.

The Sooners put two more runs on the board in eighth inning for the final margin.

The two teams square off again Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
