A Norman teenager who is trying to send care packages to her fallen father's National Guard unit is closer to her goal.

"It's becoming more real," said 14-year-old Jordan Eshbaugh.

Jordan never got to send her father a care package. He was killed in Iraq in 2008.

"I know he would want me do this for them," said Jordan.

The Whittier Middle School student plans to send out 38 care packages to her father's old National Guard unit, now serving in Afghanistan.

"These guys were my second family," Jordan said.

When News 9 first met Jordan earlier this year, she had the idea for the care packages, but not the money to send them overseas. Donations for postage have come in and now all the teenager needs to do is collect the items to send.

Beef flavored Ramen noodles, energy drink mixes and M&Ms are some of the requests Jordan has received. The 14 year old will be collecting items outside Whittier Middle School in Norman from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday. Everyone is encouraged to drop something off.

Jordan's classmates are also being encouraged to donate items. Whittier Middle School is located at 2000 W. Brooks St. in Norman.
