A Green Country father will go to trial for the death of a 71-year-old bicyclist, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Joe Briscoe told police he took his eyes off the road to check on his daughter back in October, when he hit Earle Teske.

Briscoe said the 4-year-old girl told him he hit a street sign, so he checked the damage to his car and drove away, according to reports.

Another driver found Teske dead in the ditch. Teske later turned himself in to authorities.

Briscoe faces negligent homicide and hit-and-run charges.
