CUSHING, Oklahoma -
A Cushing teenager was taken into
custody, Thursday, accused of being involved with making threats against the
school.
Cushing Police along with agents
from the Oklahoma Federal Bureau of Investigation interviewed the 16-year-old male,
not identified because of his status as a juvenile.
Investigators also interviewed
an 18-year-old male who was ultimately released and is being considered as a
material witness.
"After our conversation with the juvenile male, it is now safe to say that the
threats received were in fact a hoax", Chief Tully Folden said. "During no time
in the investigation did we find any evidence that would support either threat."
"I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to every agency and officer who
spent countless hours ensuring the safety of our greatest assets, our children,"
Folden said.
The 16-year-old student was transported
from Tulsa to the Payne County District Courthouse, where a detention hearing
was held. At the conclusion of the hearing, the juvenile male was ordered to be
held in a secure detention facility and was given a $75,000 bond.
