Workers at a pawn shop in southwest Oklahoma City acted quickly and locked a man inside after he allegedly attempted to steal $700 from the business.

Employees at Pawn Sharks at S.W. 59th Street and Western told police Demitrise Bledsoe, 25, entered the store around 9 p.m. A worker was helping another customer. He took some cash out of the safe and placed it on the counter.

Bledsoe walked up and asked to see something in a case. The worker told him to wait so he could finish his transaction with the previous customer. That's when Bledsoe allegedly grabbed the $700 sitting on the counter and ran to the front door.

The worker hit a switch behind a counter that remotely locked the front door, causing Bledsoe to slam into the door. Bledsoe then returned to the counter and offered to return the money, but employees had already called 911. Witnesses said Bledsoe ran back to the front door and attempted to kick it open, but that didn't work. Bledsoe then walked back to the counter and threw down the money.

Employees held Bledsoe until police arrived. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail for grand larceny and giving a false name.
