TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa County jail is getting security upgrade. Workers began putting in new steel reinforced doors Monday in the prisoner loading/unloading area.

The current doors were damaged nearly a decade ago during a police pursuit.

Since then - the county has been trying to keep them in working order, but after eleven years of use, the doors are just worn out.

The sheriff's office says it will take about two weeks to install all four doors. Once they're in - everyone should be a little safer.

"First come into the jail, it's secure so that if there's a chance for somebody - I'm getting out of the police car, my chance to take off and run or to bring a high profile person in here without anybody being able to get to them," said Sgt. Bob Darby, Tulsa Co Sheriff's Office.

The replacement project is costing Tulsa County just under $110,000.
