In the more than 30 year history of H&H, Monday night was the first time a person took their own life in the gun range. Owner, Miles Hall says there were never any signs of what was about to happen.

“Your first thought, is just how sad this is,” said Hall. “Everybody is still hurting.”

It was a phone call Hall says really took him by surprise.

“It’s just heartbreaking when these kinds of things happen, no matter where it is, let alone here,” Hall said.

Police say 25-year-old Nijim Ghassan Dabbour shot himself in the head. The aspiring journalist and OU graduate was rushed to OU Medical center, where he was pronounced dead.

“That’s shocking,you don’t expect it,” said an H&H customer.

Those close to Dabbour say he was fluent in Arabic, and planned to work for Al Jazeera, a TV network based in Qatar.

“We just ache for him, we ache for his family, we’re aching for our crew who has had to deal with this,” Hall said.

Hall says the thought of someone committing suicide in the gun range has crossed his mind. The question though, is how do you prepare for it. He says Dabbour never showed any signs that he was preparing to take his life.

“He came in, and interacted with the guest, interacted with the staff, and typically, people have made their mind up,” Hall said.

Now, people from everywhere are lending their prayers and support, after such a sudden tragedy, not only for Hall and his crew, but for Dabbour and his family.

“It’s a process that we’re going though, and it’s sad,” Hall said.

There are a number of Suicide and Crisis hotlines available for those who simply need someone to talk to.

The statewide line is 1-800-522-9054.
