EDMOND, Oklahoma -

An Edmond man was arrested after assaulting his roommate with a tree limb, all because of a post on Facebook.

News 9 spoke with the victim Wednesday. Not only was the victim attacked with a tree limb, he says his roommate also came at him with a butcher knife.

Luckily, a third roommate was there to help break up the fight and they called police. The victim says he never thought a post on Facebook would land him in the hospital.

A tree limb broken to pieces and blood splattered on the wall remain after a violent attack in this Edmond apartment. The victim is a 24-year-old college student from the Ivory Coast. His name is Patrick, and News 9 agreed not to show his face.

His roommate,26-year-old Jean Koffi, attacked him with a tree limb around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

“He didn’t give me the chance to escape,” Koffi said.

It all started with another fight earlier this week. That's when Patrick posted a picture on Facebook and commented that although Koffi beat him up, Koffi was the one taking this pain medicine.

Patrick says he never thought Koffi would react the way he did. According to police reports, Koffi stated that when he read the post, it 'made him hurt inside,’ and he became angry. He told police he got a tree branch outside and attacked Patrick in his bed.

“I had to run into the bathroom and hide,” Patrick said. “Before I knew, I saw blood all over my body…and he came to me with a knife, trying to stab me. I was like, ‘My life is in danger.’”

The fight ended when he called police, and Koffi was arrested. Patrick says Koffi hit him more than 10 times and he spent yesterday in the hospital.

Koffi is facing felony charges for assault with a dangerous weapon. He remains in the Edmond city jail.

Patrick says he plans to move out at the end of the month.
