After such a tranquil end to last week, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s, there was a hope maybe March could end as pleasantly. As we know so well in the state, the answer is: OF COURSE NOT.

The weather is way too fickle here to stick around for too long.

So, here we go into the weekend with two weather systems that will impact the state and bring in the cold! Today's system is bringing rain back to the state, especially to the eastern half. There may be some rough and tumble thunderstorms near the Red River late today, but most locations west of I-35 should not have a whole lot of precipitation. The heaviest rainfall is forecast near Sallisaw, near the I-40 corridor and Arkansas. This system will move out early Friday.

The next system, which looks like a colder one, will move in on Saturday. Rain is expected to develop on a scattered basis during the day. Colder air will move south from Kansas giving the state much colder air on Sunday. In this transition, some of the rain is expected to change to snow in the northern and northwest part of the state. Some areas in northwest Oklahoma could receive up to 3 inches of snowfall by Sunday morning.

Oklahoma City and the metro area are expected to receive off-and-on rainfall the next few days. As much as a quarter of an inch of rainfall is expected before the system exits the state early Sunday. OKC may see a few flakes of snow mixed in early Sunday morning, but no accumulation is expected.

The cool weather pattern will continue into next week.
