Editor's note: The Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued a corrected report Thursday evening, saying it was Kirtus Sims who fell asleep while driving, not the other driver. News On 6 has changed the story to reflect the correction.

Two drivers are in the hospital after a head-on crash early Thursday, March 21, 2013 on Highway 66 west of Bristow.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Kirtus Sims of Beggs was westbound when he fell asleep, causing his 2003 Buick Century to cross the center line and hit a 2011 Ford Escape driven by Bobby Howard, 72, of Depew.

The crash happened at 6:31 a.m.

Sims was pinned in the wreckage for about 30 minutes. Both he and Howard were taken to a Tulsa hospital.

OHP said Howard suffered arm and leg injuries. Sims suffered head, arm and leg injuries.
