Tulsa Softball Takes Two At UNLV Rebel Classic

The 18th-ranked Tulsa softball team picked up a pair of wins to open the UNLV Rebel Classic, defeating Texas Tech, 5-1, and UNLV, 13-1 (5 inn.), Friday at Eller Media Stadium.

With the wins, the Golden Hurricane improved to 25-5 on the season. TU plays UNLV Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Aimee Creger (13-1) struck out 11 batters, scattered six hits, and walked one in the complete-game victory against Texas Tech. Samantha Cobb went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Cierra Hughes was 2-for-3 and scored a run in the game.

Against UNLV, the Hurricane exploded for five runs in the third and eight runs in the fourth inning, as nine different TU players scored a run in the contest. Lacey Middlebrooks struck out four batters and allowed three hits to improve to 10-2 on the season.
