Men Caught On Video Stealing Almost $1,000 In Tires From North Tulsa Shop

The owner of a tire shop in north Tulsa is trying to find the people who took nearly $1,000 worth of used tires.

Two men were caught on security video stealing the tires from the Tire Mart at Pine and Lewis.

Jimmy Powell said Tire Mart is a small operation, which the owners admit is not going to make them millionaires. So, when two men cut through a fence early Tuesday morning, it left a big hole in their pocketbook.

And it was all caught on tape.

Around 3:30 Tuesday morning, a truck backed up in the parking lot of the business next door and two men get out. One cut through the chain link fence while the other was on the lookout, even casually kicking his trucks bumper when a car drove by.

The men eventually got through the fence and piled around 29 tires into the back of their truck.

"Whoever it was, they knew exactly what they came in for, because they went straight to the 15's and pulled all of the 15's, because they're a very popular used tire," Powell said.

He said those tires go for $30 a piece, so that's an $870 loss.

Powell said he thinks whoever took those tires might try to sell them and make a quick buck, so he's asking other tire shops to look out for someone selling a bunch of 15-inch tires, as they may very well be stolen.

Powell said he and the other employees of Tire Mart work hard there, and they're not in it for the money. He said they just like cars and helping other people. So, when someone steals their most popular product, it's hard to recover from.

"Used tire business is getting a tough place to work, anyway, so to lose a load of popular used tires is also a pain in the rump," Powell said. "I don't know how else to say it, but it gets pretty frustrating sometimes."

Powell said the truck appears to be a late '90s model two-tone Chevrolet Club Cab, and based on the way the men got into the truck, it may have problems with the driver's side door.
