The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles saw their season come to a close Wednesday night, falling on the road to Weber State, 83-74, in the CIT Tournament quarterfinals.
Davion Berry led the Wildcats with 27 points and dished out 10 assists, while Kyle Tresnak scored 19 points. Scott Bamforth chipped in 18 points as well.
Shawn Glover and Damen Bell-Holter each scored 19 points to lead the Golden Eagles while Warren Niles scored 18 points. However, Niles shot just 5-of-18 from the field for ORU.
The game was fairly even throughout the night, although Weber State led almost from wire-to-wire, taking the lead on a 3-pointer from Berry with 18:09 left in the first half and never relinquishing it.
The Wildcats never had a lead of more than seven points in the first half, as ORU continually got within one possession of taking the lead, but couldn't take the lead away from Weber State.
The second half was more of the same, with Weber State continuing to hold off any Golden Eagles charge. A jumper from Glover cut the lead to 54-53 with 9:01 remaining, but Berry responded with a 3-pointer on the very next possession.
Eventually, ORU ran out of gas, as the Wildcats pushed the lead to 13 points with 2:17 remaining, all but sealing the Golden Eagles' second loss to Weber State in a month.
