TULSA, Oklahoma -

New York Times bestselling author and University of Tulsa graduate Daniel H. Wilson will address the graduating class during commencement ceremonies.

TU's 131st Commencement will be held at 10 a.m., May 11, 2013, in the Reynolds Center.

Wilson, who went on to earn a doctorate in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, has written techno-thrillers including "Robopocalypse," "How to Survive A Robot Uprising," and "Amped."

Five of his books have been optioned for film, with "Robopocalypse" in development to be the next film Steven Spielberg directs, according to a news release from TU.

"While TU always invites a distinguished speaker to address our graduates and their families at commencement, nothing gives me more pride than when that honored speaker is also an alumnus," said TU President Steadman Upham.

"Daniel is a gifted writer, curious scientist and savvy entrepreneur whose rising international reputation brings even greater distinction to his alma mater."

Wilson also hosted a TV series, "The Works," which aired on the History Channel.
