An Oklahoma father in Tecumseh is outraged a convicted felon with a violent past could soon be out on parole.

Sean Benn, 40, has been in Oklahoma prisons or jails much of the past 20 years, for crimes ranging from theft to felony possession of a firearm.

Gary Jenkins says Benn assaulted his son three years ago in Shawnee, and he's concerned for their safety should Benn get out of prison.

"His original parole date is not until 2021. He's had plenty of chances," Jenkins said.

An assistant Pottawatomie County District Attorney says even if the State Parole Board recommends Benn's pardon, Governor Fallin must sign off on it.

He also says because Sean Benn has not yet been convicted of crimes in Pottawatomie County, there is little the county can do to keep Benn from being released.
