The wet weather is bringing some much needed relief in the midst of a painful drought.

The rain caused a soggy mess and created some minor flooding throughout the metro. A soaking mess filled city streets. It's a much different picture than what Oklahoma City residents saw just weeks ago when the lack of rain had people wondering if they would ever see Lake Hefner back to a healthy level.

"I was really worried about the summer coming to be honest," one resident told News 9.

Streets throughout OKC had large areas of standing water Wednesday. At times, the kickback along the roads made it hard to see and traffic was slow-going on the Interstates.

There have been no reports of major flooding in the metro, even though it has been wet most of the day.

More than half of the state remains in extreme drought, but that is down from 95 percent since January 1, 2013. The worst drought lies in the far western panhandle and far southwestern Oklahoma.
