The Sooners and Golden Eagles lost heart breakers while the Cowboys blew out the Jayhawks in Saturday's college baseball action.

Texas Edges Past No. 10 Sooners

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas starting pitcher Dillon Peters gave up two hits in 7.2 innings to lift the Longhorns to a 1-0 win over No. 10 Oklahoma in Austin Saturday afternoon.

In addition to the two hits, the Sooners managed just one other baserunner in the game. Craig Aikin was hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth inning, but was stranded at second base.

Dillon Overton pitched a magnificent game for the Sooners, striking out six batters and giving up just the single run on five hits in eight innings of work. He also walked three batters.

Texas scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning. After a strikeout, Mark Gottsacker singled and came around to score two batters later on a single from Ben Johnson. That was all the Longhorns would need.

Peters retired the first nine OU batters he faced before plunking Aikin in the fourth. After that, he retired the next 12 batters before running into some trouble in the eighth inning. The Sooners put two runners on base before Peters was pulled for Corey Knebel. Knebel struck out Anthony Hermelyn to end the threat before retiring the Sooners in order in the ninth.

Oklahoma will attempt to win a series against Texas for the first time since the 1990s tomorrow afternoon in the series finale.

No. 19 Cowboys Rout Kansas To Even Series

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Oklahoma State evened its series against Kansas Saturday as the 19th-ranked Cowboys cruised to a 14-3 win against the Jayhawks.

OSU collected 18 hits, its most in a nine-inning game this season and one shy of their season high, and got a strong start from Mark Robinette on the mound as they improved to 22-7 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 Conference play.

OSU will square off against KU (17-12, 4-4) in Sunday's decisive series finale beginning at 1 p.m.

OSU wasted no time taking a lead Saturday when Saulyer Saxon, who leads the Cowboys in hitting in Big 12 play, opened the game with an opposite field double, and after a sacrifice bunt by Aaron Cornell, Tanner Krietemeier brought home the game's first run with a sacrifice fly.

In the second, OSU extended its lead thanks to a two-run home run by Robbie Rea that cleared the wall in left field and gave the Cowboys a 3-0 advantage.

Following an unearned run in the fourth, the Cowboys pushed their lead to seven in the sixth with a three-run rally as Saxon, Cornell and Krietemeier delivered consecutive RBI singles.

With OSU's offense rolling, Robinette dominated the KU lineup, allowing just two hits and keeping the Jayhawks off the scoreboard through the first six innings.

KU finally strung together a rally with two outs in the seventh, loading the bases and then getting a three-RBI triple off the wall in centerfield by Tucker Tharp, but Vince Wheeland came out of the bullpen and retired the first batter he faced to escape further damage.

The win marked the first of Robinette's career against a Big 12 opponent as he improved to 2-0 on the season. He struck out four and issued just one walk in a career-high 6 2/3 innings.

After the Jayhawks trimmed their deficit to 7-3, OSU squashed any hopes of a comeback by tallying seven runs over the final two innings.

Rea, Victor Romero and Donnie Walton all had three hits, while Krietemeier had four RBIs.

ORU Drops Second Straight

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –Oral Roberts dropped its second consecutive heartbreaker on Saturday at Stephen F. Austin as the Lumberjacks hit a walk-off double in the 10th inning to win 2-1.

Freddy Villalobos started the bottom of the 10th for the Jacks with a single with an infield single. Two batters later, Max Lamantia stepped in and hit a shot to center that reached the wall, giving Villalobos enough time to cross the plate for the game winner.

Nathan Garza earned the loss for the Golden Eagles, entering the game in the bottom of the ninth. He replaced Drew Bowen who went 8.2 innings and only allowed four hits. Bowen also struck out six SFA batters and only allowed one free pass.

ORU falls to 9-20 on the season and 4-4 in conference play. Game three of the series at SFA (14-16, 5-3) is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Golden Eagles finally broke the scoreless tie in the top of the eighth. Kevin Cho started the inning with a bunt single and Matt Brandy followed with a single to left. Cho was running on the play and reached third.

Logan Domenico hit a deep fly ball with runners on the corners to score Cho to get ORU on the board.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Lumberjacks tied the game with a two-out hit from their biggest offensive threat, Hunter Dozier. The junior came to the plate with Jordan Camel on second and singled to the right side to score Camel to force the extra inning.
