The Oklahoma Panhandle State University baseball team split wins with the Newman University Jets Friday afternoon, winning the first game 8-1 and losing the second 1-0.

The Aggies scored a single run in the second inning for an early 1-0 lead, and then broke out the bats for a 7-run third inning. With two outs, Casey Kettler, Nick Crosswhite, and Alfonso Gonzalez, Ruben Aguirre, and Robert Montoya all singled for the first two runs. Bo Ybarra took a base on balls to walk in a run, and then Aguirre scored on a wild pitch while Payton Osbon reached first and Montoya scored on a costly error by the third baseman.

Chris McClendon hit a single to load the bases once again, and after a pitching change, Jordan Bernal walked in a run as the Aggies batted a full round. Kettler singled again for the seventh and final run of the inning.

Nick Glasscock threw a complete game, giving up only three hits and striking out two. Montoya was 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs and Bernal, Kettler, Aguirre and Ybarra each had an RBI.

Game two featured a pitching battle as the starting Newman pitcher, Jacob Furr, gave up only four runs and struck out six over eight innings while Corey Mingin, who tossed a complete game, scattered only five hits and struck out four. The lone Newman run in the game was an exciting one as the third base runner stole home. The Aggie defense turned a nice double play in the sixth as the batter hit to third baseman Aguirre who tossed the ball to second baseman Jordan Sprouse to get the second base runner out and then Sprouse sent it on to Nick Crosswhite at first to get the batter out and retire the side. Trey Wooten had two hits from four at-bats and Crosswhite had 11 putouts.

The Aggies take the field at noon on Saturday for the final game of the series.
