Oklahoma Baptist split a NAIA Top 15 and Sooner Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader at Lubbock Christian Friday.

The 17th-ranked Bison (28-11 overall and 8-6 in the SAC) won the opener 6-5 before falling to No. 6 LCU 15-6 in the second game. The Chaparrals are now 29-9 on the season and 10-4 in the conference.

The Chaps went up 3-2 in the second, but Jeff Johnson hit a solo home run to make it 3-3 in the top of the third.

LCU went up 4-3 in the bottom of the third on a two-out error.

OBU went ahead 5-4 in the fourth on an RBI triple by Yael Colon and an RBI double by Garrett Roberts.

The Chaps tied it in the fifth on a Christian Vasquez home run and got two runners on with no outs in the sixth before Julian Merryweather struck out two and got a pop up to keep the score tied.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Mitch Warne singled for his third hit of the game and scored on a double by Brandon Laubhan.

Merryweather (7-0) went the distance for the Bison, picking up eight strikeouts.

The Bison had 10 hits in the game, including Warne's three and two each by Colon and Roberts.

OBU also scored twice in the first inning of the second game on a solo home run by Garrett Roberts and an error.

LCU answered with five runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed again.

OBU added a run on a Robert sacrifice fly in the second. Two more Bison scored in the fourth on a two-run home run by Laubhan, but that only cut the score to 8-5.

The final Bison run scored in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Rafael Villar.

OBU had six hits in the game, including two by Page.

Lutz had three hits, including two home runs and seven RBI in the game for LCU.
